Nokia announces the Lumia 720-A mid range Windows phone 8 device

We have two new Nokia Lumia devices in this years Mobile World Congress. We already know that Nokia was readying couple of Windows Phone 8 smartphones and few Asha series smartphones for this years MWC. Now both the WP8 devices viz.Nokia Lumia 720 and Nokia Lumia 520 are official. Nokia is giving some serious hardware boost in all these handsets. Dual core processor may not sound too impressive to you but remember these are Krait based Snapdragon S4 Plus, very good in business. Lumia 720 gets Carl Ziess teaser lens 6.7 MP camera with impressive f/1.9 inch aperture. Possibly, it’s a PureView camera. But I can’t conform this as it’s not claimed as of now. We also expected Nokia Lumia 1000 with 41 MP PureView camera in this years MWC. But this hasn’t happened for some reason.

Nokia Lumia 720 sports 4.3 inch touch screen with Corning Gorilla Glass 2 scratch resistant coating on display. It comes with 8 GB ROM and micro SD card slot expandable up to 64 GB. In connectivity front NFC is an impressive features so as dual band Wi-Fi. HSPA+ modem is already there for faster data network connectivity with max download speed of 21 Mbps. It gets a giant 2000 mAH battery that promises to deliver 23 hrs of talk time in 2G network and 13 hrs of talk time in 3G network.

In contrast of the specs of Lumia 720 the sibling Nokia Lumia 520 looks slightly off focus. It gets the same processor, RAM but display size is reduced to 4 inch and camera is downgraded to 5 MP. Also the battery size is considerably small. It gets a 1430 mAH battery that is expected to deliver 9 hrs 40 min talk time in 3G network.

Well, there is no other information available as of now. You can expect Lumia 720 to be the costlier model with a price tag of around Rs 20,000 while the Nokia Lumia 520 may cost less than Rs 10000 in Indian market. Nokia Lumia 620 sits perfectly between these two Lumias.

Lava Iris 430 Dual core Android 4.0 smartphone coming soon

Lava Iris 430 is dual core powered smartphone. It has been showing on Lava Official Website. It has 4.3-inch WVGA screen and is powered by 1GHz of dual core processor. The rear camera is of 5MP. This dual SIM handset could probably be priced under Rs. 8,000. There are two cameras, one placed on the rear side with a 5MP resolution and another on the front side of VGA resolution. The Lava Iris 430 is 10.55 mm thick. Battery is of 1500mAh capacity with around 4 hours of talktime and up to 390 hours standby time. As for as the Memory is concerned its 512MB RAM and 4GB internal storage with micro SD support. Other features are 3G, Wi-Fi, Bluetooth 4.0 with A2DP, 3.5mm jack, GPS and micro USB port. Iocean X7 Spotted in the Wild

Iocean X7 or OuSheng X7 is spotted in the wild. This time images are pretty sharp and you should get the feeling that it’s a premium smartphone that is expected to be shipped in Indian market at an amazingly low price tag. According to Gizchina the droid could be priced 999 Yuan or $160 USD which means in India you can expect the phablet for as low as Rs 9000. Iocean also mentioned the same in their official mailer last week. Release date is not mentioned, but you can expect it by March. As I already mentioned in my previous post it sports 5 inch Full HD display at 441 ppi, 13 MP camera, quad core MediaTek MT6589 SoC, 2 GB RAM and of course Android 4.1 JellyBean out of the box. Do you need anything else in this budget? In China few lucky users are able to get their hands in to this lovely little piece of smartphone. Iocean is expected to ship review copies soon. But I haven’t received any official news from their end as of now.

Sony Xperia Z Launch in India on 6th March

The Sony flagship smartphone is on the way to India. With a teaser on it’s official Facebook Page, Sony Mobile has confirmed that Xperia Z will be launch on March 6th in Indian markets. There is not much information regarding the price of this smartphone, but rumours suggest that the price will be something similar to recently announced HTC Butterfly, which costs Rs. 45,500.
