Alcatel One Touch Scribe Easy 5 inch Dual Core Phablet Unveiled in MWC

In this years  Mobile World Congress Alcatel made few announcement but  Alcatel One Touch Scribe Easy  is the most disappointing among all.  Alcatel One Touch Fire  with  Firefox OS  impressed all of us. Using minimum hardware they have showcased a beautiful piece of smartphone. ZTE also unveiled  ZTE Open  with similar hardware.  Alcatel One Touch Idol X  phablet is also very impressive. But Alcatel One Touch Scribe Easy gets the JellyBean out of the box but dual core 1.2 GHz processor and 512 MB don’t sound impressive. Is it? I guess no. currently Indian market is flooded with similar specs. Now we see a trend where all manufacturers are using 1 GB RAM in their products. Dual core is okay but RAM needs to be 1 GB to to increase the degree of multitasking in the true sense of the term. HP, the well known PC and peripheral manufacturer is now entering in to tablet business with a 7 inch Android tablet called as  HP Slate 7 . That’s the main reason they are now entering touch screen market with more compact and affordable tablets. Currently Slate 7 is coming in market that is priced aggressively to $169 USD. Built on  Android 4.1 JellyBean  HP Slate 7 is powered by dual core 1.6 GHz Cortex A9 processor, 1 GB RAM. Alcatel One Touch Fire Running Firefox OS Unveiled in MWC after ZTE Open

Yesterday  ZTE Open  was spotted running brand new  Firefox OS . Now  Alcatel One Touch Fire  is officially unveiled packed with the same operating system. Without any surprise specs are horrible. How does it sound when you hear a smartphone is equipped with 1 GHz Cortex A5 single core CPU, 256 MB RAM, 3.2 MP fixed focus camera, 512 MB ROM? I guess not interesting at all! Is it so? But Mozilla and the OEMs are trying to prove us wrong. That’s the main reason they have started using outdated hardware to show that the Firefox OS can run with this hardware whereas Android needs way more upgraded hardware for best output. You don’t need to be too worried as  Alcatel One Touch Fire  is heading to China, Latin America followed by Europe. There is no certainty when it’s coming to India. I am afraid to say if this is priced around Rs 4000 it’s okay in Indian market. Otherwise, no luck here! Am I right? Or you want me to prove wrong by purchasing this o...

Alcatel One Touch Idol X Full HD 5 inch Phablet Showcased in MWC

Alcatel was known for a large part of its history as a low end handset maker and now it’s starting to operate in the higher end area, years after being bought by an Asian firm. Today, at MWC 2013 in Barcelona they’ve unveiled a very hot model, with high end specs, called the One Touch Idol X. Alcatel One Touch Idol X  is the first full HD phablet that equips a quad core processor. Currently the craze of  full HD smartphones  is very high in market. Therefore, all manufacturers have started showcasing their high-end products in one of the largest tech festivals; it’s none other than  Mobile World Congress  held in Barcelona Spain. Anyway, Alcatel is not known for producing high-end devices. This time they have opted for MediaTek MT6589 which is not too powerful but a decent one to be exact. There is a 13 MP rear camera that records full HD video. I haven’t mentioned that Alcatel One Touch Idol X is built on Android 4.2 JellyBean. This is also a prett...

Huawei Ascend P2 Officially Unveiled in MWC

Huawei Ascend P2 , the next flagship smartphone from the giant Chinese smartphone manufacturer is now official. It gets some fire-power but disappointed many of us as there is no full HD display. We were expecting this to happen as all leaks were suggesting that it is going to have HD 720p display. However, it’s still a good choice. In-home  K3V2 chip  with 1.5 GHz quad core Cortex A9 ensures fair amount of performance enhancement especially when the RAM is 1 GB. Nowadays we see 2 GB RAM is a must for a flagship but Huawei is planning to tighten the budget. That may be the reason they have avoided full HD display and reduced RAM to 1 GB. Earlier in CES Huawei unveiled  Ascend D2  with full HD display, 2 GB RAM and same K3V2 chip. There is a 13 MP camera rear shooter that records full HD video at 30 fps. Dedicated hardware key for the camera is an added bonus. Normally, we don’t see this in modern smartphones but it’s good to have one. It comes only with 16 GB ...

Samsung Galaxy Note 8.0 unveiled, a quad core 8 inch tablet with Jelly Bean

Samsung Galaxy Note 8.0  is now official! Rumor mill will stop as the official spec sheet is here. Galaxy Note series has been a super success for Samsung. It stands after the ‘S’ series. Let’s hope the trend will continue as upcoming Galaxy S4 dominates the rumor mill and I expect it to go beyond expectation as the release date comes closer. Anyway, there is a huge difference between 8 inch Galaxy Note and 5 inch Galaxy S4. Three variants of  Samsung Galaxy Note 8.0  will be shipping in market; one Wi-Fi only, Wi-Fi, 3G only and 3G/4G LTE with Wi-Fi. Out of the box all three variants will get Android 4.1.2 JellyBean OS and TouchWiz UI. It’s in-home  Exynos 4412 Quad again, the same chip that runs Galaxy Note 2, Galaxy S3 and several other high-end Samsung products. This time quad Cortex A9 cores are clocked at 1.6 GHz. Oh yes, 2 GB RAM is there to ensure faster multitasking and extreme gaming experience. Note 8.0 flaunts 8 inch TFT LCD WXGA resolution is at 189 p...
