HTC One, the flagship smartphone from HTC is coming to Reliance Communication aka RCom. It’s not clear to me whether this is a monthly contract or one time payment with some data packs without extra charges. HTC will start shipping the flagship in March. Do not worry if you want an unlocked device! Factory unlocked HTC One will also be launched in Indian market. No exact time frame is given by the company but you can expect it by the end of March. Only thing I am worrying is the future of HTC Butterfly. HTC launched the full HD phablet few days ago at Rs 46000. But within a month if the flagship One is launched it will destroy the market of Butterfly. Remember one thing Butterfly was not launched globally. In European market they stopped the launch just because of this one. In UK unlocked HTC One is priced 510 Euro which means it will be priced somewhere close to Rs 42000 in Indian market. Now to get the best out of Butterfly HTC might delay the release of the unlocked flagship. I don’t know exactly but this might happen.
To remind you features of HTC One, it packs 1.7 GHz quad core Krait 300 Qualcomm APQ8064T Snapdragon 600 processor. The droid ensures 40% better performance as compared to HTC Butterfly. This might be an important area to watch out. There is no major difference in display as HTC One is using S-LCD3 full HD 4.7 inch display. It’s just smaller in size resulting in higher display ppi.
In camera segment some important differences are there. HTC One sports 4 MP UltraPixelcamera. Don’t think it’s inferior to a sub-$200 smartphone 5 MP/8 MP camera. It uses some advances shooting technology that takes outstanding images in low light. The sensor size is 1/3 inch which is too big in size. Also the aperture is so large that it helps 300% more light to enter in to the photo-voltaic cells to increase the brightness of an image. Read more what Gizmodo says about this camera:
More data means more quality—to a point. You need enough pixels that you can view the image at a reasonable size on screens. Think about how ridiculous a 100 x 100 image would look on the HTC One’s 1920 x 1080 screen. But then again, most cameras output photos way larger than what most people will ever need. The 4-megapixel camera on the HTC One outputs 2688 x 1520 images, and that’s really dangerously small if you want to crop or edit your images at all, but HTC is gambling that it is good enough for most people. All you’re doing is uploading photos to Facebook and Instagram anyway, right?
Let’s hope HTC One is released in India by March as we are expecting in the form of unlocked and in-contract with RCom in an amazingly low price tag. But don’t expect it in less than 35k price tag.
